IOWA AUTO DEALERS FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATION
This scholarship is for any senior interested in pursuing a career in the automotive industry. This includes auto/diesel technician, body repair, sales, accounting or business administration. Student must attend an Iowa college or university and have financial need. Application is available online. (Deadline March 1)

ASPIRING NURSE SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is open to all high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs. Scholarship applications will be accepted until midnight on June 30, 2017.  Interested students may visit here and click the banner on the right-hand side of the website's homepage.

AFSCME FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is for students whose parents are public employees or healthcare workers. Click here for application. (Deadline December 31)

GREAT RIVER FRIENDS
This scholarship is for students interested in health occupations. Applicant must have 3.0 or better GPA. Application is available here . (Deadline February 15)

UNITED STATES JCI SENATE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships are based on leadership positions & offices, memberships, honors and awards, grade point average and employment. Applicants are required to write a paragraph and submit up to 5 letters of reference. Click here for application. (Deadline January 15)

NATIONAL WILD TURKEY FEDERATION SCHOLARSHIP 
This scholarship is for students who have a 3.0 GPA and pursuing a higher education. The student must be a current NWTF member, involved in school activities, demonstrate community leadership and submit an essay exhibiting dedication to conservation. Application is available here. (Deadline January 1)

USDA/1890 NATIONAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM Scholarships are awarded annually and must be used at one of the 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Universities. who are seeking a bachelor’s degree in any of the fields of study within agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, or other related disciplines. Each award provides full tuition, as well as room and board, for the term of the scholarship. The scholarship may be renewed each year. For the application click here. (Deadline December 31)

ESSAY CONTEST

This contest requires students to compose a 700- to 800-word essay around a central idea. The contest is designed to develop writing and critical thinking skills. One scholarship of $2,500 per District is awarded by Optimist International each year. For more information, click here. For an application, click here.

ORATORICAL CONTENT

The Oratorical Contest is open to students 9-12. Students are required to prepare a 4- to 5-minute speech on a pre-assigned topic. This contest is designed to assist youth in gaining public speaking experience and provide them with an opportunity to compete for a scholarship. For more information, click here. IOWA FINANCIAL KNOW-HOW CHALLENGE

This Senior Scholarship is a chance to win $2,000 for college, all while learning important financial literacy skills. The Senior Scholarship is open to all Iowa high school seniors. ASPIRING BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP –

MASONIC MCEC TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is for students who plan to enroll in a mechanical or trade course of study at Iowa Community College. Click here for the application. (Deadline March 1)

MASONIC SCHOLARSHIP 
The Grand Lodge of Iowa A.F. and A.M. will award 60 scholarships this year for students planning to attend any 2 or 4-year college or vocational school.  The principal criterion is service to school and community with special emphasis upon leadership roles in these areas; but also includes academic record, communication skills, and financial need.  Click here for application.  (Deadline February 1)

IOWA NEWSPAPER FOUNDATION - 
Seven scholarships are offered through this foundation for students preparing for a newspaper career. Applications are available online at www.inanews.com.  (Deadline February 10)

IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY - THELMA AND JOHN McCOLM SCHOLARSHIP

HY-VEE FOUNDATON SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 
Hy-Vee is offering scholarships to seniors who are current employees of whose parent is an employee. Applications are available in the counseling office or online at www.hy-vee.com. (Deadline February 10)

IOWA/ILLINOIS REGIONAL AUTO SHOW SCHOLARSHIP 
This scholarship is available to any student interested in working in the auto industry. Applications are available online at www.cfgrb.org. (Deadline: January 4)

STATE GRANTS & SCHOLARSHIP OF IOWA 
Grant and scholarship funds are available to assist students in paying educational expenses. Unlike student loans, scholarships and grants are considered gift aid and do not need to be repaid. Below is a list of state of Iowa grants and scholarships available to Iowans.  Because each program is different, it is important to read and understand their specific eligibility requirements and application deadlines. Apply online. FAFSA  (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is required for many of these scholarships.  Click on these for information or the application for the FAFSA.

HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIP
HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS – To be eligible students must be seniors living in Iowa, demonstrate financial need, evidence integrity and perseverance in the face of adversity, commit to pursue a bachelor’s degree at the University of Iowa, and be a U. S. citizen. You must also be involved in co-curricular and community service activities. Students may start at a two-year college and plan to transfer to Iowa.Apply online. (Deadline October 25)

Tobacco-Free Life Academic Scholarship
